The Balvenie is regarded as the world’s most hand-crafted single malt. But in an age of increasing automation, their hands-on approach still sets them apart. Each Balvenie whisky has its own story and we believed it was time to open a new chapter in the distillery’s storybook and create a range that tells of the people, ideas and discoveries that lie behind each individual whisky.
Our design approach was to treat these whisky packs as book covers. Each pack is defined by original illustrations by British print artist Andy Lovell who was commissioned to create bespoke artworks that visually represent the real-life stories behind the people who make The Balvenie.
The evocative names for these whiskies defy category convention and reinforce each whiskies idiosyncracies by referring to very specific details of each story. To enrich the experience of these whiskies further, the bottle also incorporates an NFC-enabled neck tag that links to podcasts telling this story though audio conversations with the different craftspeople behind the liquid, as well as a guided whisky tasting.
